Meet the Troupe Director

A Brief History of a Coach

Aric J. Nelson is an 18-year circus performer with several thousand shows under his belt.  He performed on many stages throughout Southern California and Las Vegas through his tenure, including performing stunts in 31 movies, television shows, and commercials.  During his circus career, Aric would perform more than 20 different act types for millions of audience members, acts from Flying Trapeze, Handbalancing, Ground Acrobatics, Russian Swing, Teeterboard, and more.  During his time in the circus (and since his retirement), Aric has been coaching.  For 30 years, Aric has coached thousands of athletes, from that of circus performers, baseball players, gymnasts, football players, tumblers, and cheerleaders.  Through all of this, he has found much success as a circus performer and especially, as a coach.

In February of 2012, after taking time off, away from the circus world and to focus on developing his coaching style by working with athletes from other sports, Aric decided to fully return to his circus roots and began a small troupe based out of Idaho Falls, Idaho called, Stasia Acrobats.  In their nearly 9-years of existence, Stasia Acrobats has gone on to entertain audiences at more than 300 shows throughout the Southeastern Idaho area, with a few stops in Northern Utah, Western Idaho, and Oregon.  The Troupe is made up of acrobats from the Idaho Falls area and range from ages 5 to 28 years.  Being trained in the same traditions that date back more than 4,000 years, to the time of the Ancient Egyptians and the Ancient Greeks, with a nod to the American Circuses and to the stylings of the World Famous, Cirque du Soleil, Stasia Acrobats has helped their athletes to become more confident, stronger (physically, mentally, and emotionally), and to find success in their everyday lives.  This same adventure awaits any and all that choose to challenge themselves to be different.

Aric is also a 7-year U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1992 to 1995 and then again 2000 to 2003.  He would also train people in the Military in several disciplines.  Aric has also spent his life traveling throughout the United States, visiting 40 states, and has traveled the world visiting more than 60 different countries.  He also has 4 years of college under his belt where he studied Anthropology (the study of human cultures and behaviors – to simply put it).

During his 46 years of life, Aric has continued to push himself to learn, to travel, to teach.  He considers himself a very fortunate man that has been able, through hardwork and fierce determination, to truly experience what life has to offer.  He works today, to pass on the circus art form and to instill strong values, a great work ethic, and discipline into his ‘Bats.  He has helped them to find success in their lives and helped them to establish goals and reach the same.
